Welcome to the Internal Medicine Residency Program at AdventHealth Orlando, a burgeoning academic center that integrates the educational benefits of diverse patient demographics and exemplary faculty, fostering a compassionate learning environment. Our mission emphasizes comprehensive medical care through a holistic approach, with robust training enriched by a variety of subspecialties and a commitment to the healing ministry of Christ. As a 16-14-14 program, we are on track to growing to 16-16-16 over the next two years, providing ample opportunities for personal and professional growth.

The residency program accepts international medical graduates (IMGs) as long as they have passed the USMLE I and USMLE II at first attempt, possess a Doctor of Medicine diploma without reservations, have current ECFMG certification, and prove US citizenship or appropriate visa status. The program sponsors H1-B visas, but only H1-B visas are supported for international graduates.

Curriculum & Education

Overview

The curriculum for first-year residents (PGY-1) includes rotations in General Medicine Inpatient, Critical Care Medicine, Night Float, Emergency Medicine, and Subspecialty Rotation, among others.

Application

The residency program is a categorical three-year Internal Medicine Residency. Applications through ERAS must be submitted by the end of December. The program received accreditation from the ACGME and encourages applicants to submit their applications through ERAS

Some notable alumni are Khaled Abdelhalem, Mehreen Ali, and Gabby De La Hoz; the Class of 2023 includes Arianne Alexander and Baha Bani Fawwaz, who pursued fellowship opportunities, while various others continue in hospitalist roles.
